UAE visa changes and renewals: how it works with an agency

By Al Jazira Travels ·

This is one of the services we are asked about most, and one of the ones most often described badly online. So a caveat first, and it is a real one rather than a disclaimer: we are not going to publish the rules. Who is eligible for what, how long a status lasts and what a given nationality may do inside the country are matters that change, that differ by passport and by current status, and that are decided by the authorities rather than by us. Anything you read on the subject — here or anywhere — is a reason to ask, not an answer.

What we can describe

What we can describe is the process, because that part is ours. Al Jazira Travels has run a dedicated visa desk for most of our twenty-five years, and at its busiest, between 2008 and 2015, it was processing in the region of 250 applications a week. We are a recognised member of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The practical effect is that we handle UAE visa changes and renewals in-house, rather than passing the file to a third party and relaying their answers back to you.

A typical enquiry starts with a conversation, not a form, because the first job is working out which route is actually open to you. That depends on your nationality, your current status in the country, how long you have been here and what you intend to do next. Twenty minutes on the phone usually settles whether there is a straightforward option, a complicated one, or none — and if it is the last of those, we would rather tell you before you have spent anything.

What to have ready

Have your documents to hand when you call: passport with its validity date, current visa or entry stamp, Emirates ID if you hold one, and any recent entry and exit dates. Most of the delay in these cases comes from documents arriving in instalments rather than from processing, so gathering them first genuinely shortens the whole thing.

Where a visa change requires travel, we will book the flights as part of the same file rather than as a separate transaction, which means one agency holds both halves and one person can tell you where things stand. If the timing of the two needs to line up — and it often does — that is much easier when the same desk is arranging both.

Two things we will not do

Two things we will not do. We will not promise an outcome that is not ours to grant, and we will not quote a processing time as a guarantee, because neither is within our control. What we will do is tell you plainly what we think is likely, what it will cost, and where the risk sits before you commit. If that sounds less confident than other offers you have seen, that is deliberate.

Call the desk, message us on WhatsApp, or send an enquiry. There is more on how the visa desk works, including what to have ready before you call. We answer in English, Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, Hindi, Urdu and Malayalam, daily between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM.
