01Read the fare rules before you buy
Most cheap air fares are restricted. Some cannot be refunded at all, and many that can are refunded only after the airline deducts a penalty. The fare rules for the exact ticket you are buying are linked from every search result and from the checkout page, and they are the rules that decide what you get back.
Where two fares are offered on the same flight, the more expensive one usually carries more generous change and cancellation conditions. That difference is often the reason to pay it.
02Cancelling a booking
You can request a cancellation from your account, or by contacting us with your booking reference. Before anything is cancelled we will show you a quote: what the airline will return, what penalty it will deduct, and what will reach you.
Nothing is cancelled until you confirm that quote. A cancellation cannot be undone, and rebooking afterwards means paying whatever fare is available at that moment.
03How the refund is calculated
We start from what the airline returns for your ticket, which is the fare it collected minus its own cancellation penalty. On top of that:
- Our arranging fee included in the fare is returned to you in full.
- Any separate service fee shown at checkout is not returned, because the work it paid for has already been done.
- Government taxes the airline refunds are passed back to you in full.
- A refund never exceeds what you actually paid.
04Where the money goes
A refund goes back to the card you paid with. If you paid partly with travel-wallet credit or loyalty points, that portion returns to your wallet or points balance.
We cannot send a refund to a different card or to a bank account that was not the source of payment.
05How long it takes
We submit the refund to the airline as soon as you confirm the cancellation. Airlines control their own refund timetables and can take several weeks to release the money, and after that your bank needs a few more working days to post it to your statement.
You can see the status of a refund in your account at any time, and we will tell you as soon as the airline settles.
06If the airline cancels or reschedules
When the airline cancels your flight or changes the schedule significantly, you are entitled to a refund or a rebooking under that airline's rules, usually without a penalty. Contact us and we will handle the claim with the airline on your behalf.
07Missed flights
If you do not travel and do not cancel before departure, most airlines treat the ticket as a no-show and refund little or nothing, whatever the original fare rules allowed. If you know you cannot travel, tell us before the flight departs, even at short notice.
08If you are refused travel
Airlines do not refund a ticket when a traveller is denied boarding or entry for missing or expired documents. Please check the requirements for every country on your itinerary well before you travel; we are glad to help you check.
